As a girl who’s gone from the commune to the city and managed to keep her natural foodie intact, I’ve witnessed some pretty strange sights. (Headless chickens, raw goat’s milk, willow trees killed by Round-Up, Wheat Germ covered ice cream, the inner workings of a Burger King.) Even though the commune gave way to a family farm years ago, the view these days is pretty sweet, with the growing popularity of local food, the sky-rocketing interest in meat-free meals and the beginning death spiral of industrial food. (Can anyone say recall?) Here I chronicle the natural foodie lifestyle, plus take occasional walks down memory lane to my Sunshine Farm commune childhood. Welcome to my world.
